Denton State Supported Living Center, Fire Sprinkler/HVAC Rework, Denton, Texas

This project involved replacing a 40 ton air handling unit serving the Infirmary Building 503 with new rooftop air handling units. All accessories associated with the existing air handling unit were to be removed. The unit was to remain and be deactivated. There were three (3) zone ducts from this unit that feed the Infirmary wing. These ducts were to be removed back to the fire wall and capped. Fire dampers were to remain in place. The new rooftop HVAC equipment in the Infirmary was to be connected to the existing Johnson Controls system.

New package high efficiency heat pump rooftop units were installed to serve the interior core areas and thru-the-wall heat pump units were designed to serve the patient rooms.

FAI also tied the new HVAC equipment into the existing fire alarm system. The Facilities also requested that all new HVAC be connected 100% to the existing emergency generator. Also, fire sprinkler heads were replaced in 20 buildings at the center.
